Pune: ‘Ajit Srushti’ Memorial Proposed In Pimpri-Chinchwad To Honour Late Ajit Pawar
Pimpri-Chinchwad, January 30, 2026: BJP leader and MLA Mahesh Landge has urged the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to construct a grand memorial titled “Ajit Srushti” in memory of late former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, acknowledging his contribution to Maharashtra’s development.
In a detailed representation submitted to PCMC Commissioner Shravan Hardikar, Landge proposed that the memorial be developed within the premises of the new Pimpri-Chinchwad administrative complex currently under construction near D-Mart in Chinchwad. The new complex spans 33.86 acres, with the main administrative building coming up on 8.65 acres, and is expected to house the corporation’s entire administrative functioning in the future.
Landge suggested that a full-length bronze statue of Ajit Pawar be installed within the complex as part of the memorial. He highlighted Pawar’s tenure as Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister, stating that his leadership played a vital role in strengthening infrastructure, urban governance, administrative efficiency, and development-oriented policies across Maharashtra.
Calling Pawar’s untimely demise a major loss for the state, Landge said preserving his legacy is the need of the hour. He demanded that the memorial proposal be approved in the first general body meeting of the newly elected corporators as a tribute from the citizens of Pimpri-Chinchwad. Until then, he requested that an oil portrait of Ajit Pawar be immediately installed in the old municipal hall.
‘Ajit Srushti’ Concept for Future Generations
As part of the proposal, Landge also suggested naming the auditorium in the new administrative building as ‘Ajitdada Pawar Auditorium’ and developing an exhibition space titled ‘Pimpri-Chinchwad Ajit Srushti’, showcasing the city’s development journey from its inception to future planning.
Landge stated that Ajit Pawar had envisioned Pimpri-Chinchwad as a leading city in development, and efforts would continue to realise that dream. He expressed confidence that the memorial would inspire future generations toward public service and stand as a true tribute to the late leader.
“Preserving Ajit Pawar’s vision and work is not just an emotional matter but our collective responsibility. I am confident the civic administration will take a positive decision, and we will pursue this proposal with full commitment,” Landge said.
