Pune: Pimpri Mayor Ravi Landge Leads Indrayani River Clean-Up Drive, Warns of Strict Action Against Polluting Industries
Pimpri, February 23, 2026: Mayor Ravi Landge on Saturday took a hands-on initiative to protect the Indrayani River, actively participating in a large-scale cleanliness drive and warning of stringent action against companies and institutions responsible for pollution within the limits of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.
Addressing the gathering, Mayor Landge said that environmental violations would not be tolerated under any circumstances and that strict administrative action would be taken against industries and organisations found discharging polluted sewage, industrial waste and harmful substances into the river. He stressed that keeping the Indrayani River clean and pollution-free is a collective responsibility that must be shared by the administration and citizens alike.
The river clean-up drive was organised by Sat Mavale Samvardhan Sanstha in the presence of Mayor Ravi Landge and Prashant Kurhade, President of the Alandi Municipal Council. The primary objective of the campaign was to draw attention to the growing pollution in the river and to build public awareness about collective responsibility towards river conservation.

During the campaign, Mayor Landge personally entered the riverbed and actively participated in the cleaning operations. He conducted an on-site inspection and observed large accumulations of garbage, industrial effluents, plastic waste and other hazardous materials, gaining first hand insight into the major causes of pollution affecting the river.
Following the inspection, the Mayor indicated that strict action would be initiated by the administration against companies and institutions responsible for releasing contaminated wastewater, industrial waste and environmentally harmful materials into the Indrayani River from the municipal limits.
He further emphasised that preserving the sanctity and ecological balance of the river requires a united effort by the administration, social organisations and citizens. The cleanliness drive was described as a positive step towards river conservation, and officials stated that similar campaigns would be conducted regularly in the future.
Office-bearers of Sat Mavale Samvardhan Sanstha, local residents, municipal officials and employees participated in large numbers in the drive. Mayor Landge also assured that such people-driven initiatives for keeping the Indrayani River clean and pollution-free would receive greater encouragement and momentum in the coming days.
