Claims of revised cylinder booking timelines are false; existing norms remain unchanged, say authorities.

The government has clarified that there has been no change in LPG cylinder booking rules, dismissing widespread reports claiming a mandatory 35-day gap between bookings.

Several media reports and social media posts had suggested that oil companies, including Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), had introduced new timelines to curb black marketing and improve supply distribution. These claims included different waiting periods for various consumer categories and cylinder sizes.

New Cylinder Booking Rules As Follows:

  • Consumers with only one cylinder can book a refill only after 25 days.
  • Customers with two LPG cylinders will now have to wait 35 days before booking the next refill.
  • Beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana will have to wait 45 days for the next booking.

However, the government has termed these reports incorrect. Officials stated that the current booking system continues as before, with no revisions made to the minimum gap between LPG refills.

Authorities further emphasized that adequate LPG stock is available across the country, and there is no need for consumers to panic or make unnecessary bookings. The clarification aims to prevent confusion and ensure smooth and transparent distribution of LPG cylinders.
