Nasrapur Minor Rape-Murder Case: Pune Rural Police Recreate Crime Scene
Pune, May 7, 2026: The Pune Rural Police on Tuesday night recreated the crime scene in the alleged rape and murder case of a three-and-a-half-year-old girl in Nasrapur as part of the ongoing investigation.
Police officials took the 65-year-old accused, Bhimrao Kamble, to the spot where the incident allegedly took place and carried out a detailed reconstruction of events. Authorities said the exercise was conducted late at night under tight security due to fears of public anger and a possible mob attack.
The incident, which occurred on May 1 in Bhor tehsil of Pune district, had triggered widespread outrage across the region. The accused was arrested shortly after the crime came to light.
According to investigators, the alleged offence took place inside a cowshed that has now become the focal point of the investigation. Police teams closely examined the area and collected physical as well as forensic evidence to verify the accused’s statements and establish the sequence of events.
During the reconstruction, the accused was allegedly asked to demonstrate step-by-step how the crime was carried out. Officials said the exercise helped investigators trace the route taken by the accused and cross-check details regarding where the child was last seen before being taken to the isolated structure.
Police sources said a detailed panchnama was conducted at the site, and the findings will be included in the chargesheet.
Investigators also revealed that the accused had allegedly been staying inside the cowshed for several days before the incident while working nearby as a labourer. Some of his belongings and clothes were reportedly recovered from the location.
According to preliminary postmortem findings, the child allegedly died due to asphyxia. Police sources further stated that injury marks were found on the victim’s body, indicating severe physical assault. Samples collected during the postmortem examination at Sassoon General Hospital have been sent for forensic analysis to determine the exact cause of death.
Officials confirmed that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the case.
Police records show that the accused has a past criminal history involving sexual offence allegations. He had earlier been arrested in molestation cases in 1998 and 2015 but was later acquitted in both matters.
Family members of the accused have reportedly distanced themselves from him and demanded strict punishment. Police said statements of his relatives will also be recorded as part of the investigation.
The incident has led to strong protests in the Bhor region, with villagers recently staging demonstrations and blocking the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway demanding speedy justice for the victim.
