Heatwave Tightens Grip Across Maharashtra With IMD Issuing Yellow Alert For Pune
Pune, May 13, 2026: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heatwave conditions in Pune till May 14 as temperatures continue to soar across Maharashtra. Along with Pune, alerts have also been issued for Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Akola and Amravati districts.

According to the IMD, maximum temperatures in these areas are expected to stay well above normal over the next few days.
On Tuesday, Lohegaon recorded the highest temperature in Pune at 43.2°C. Shivajinagar and Koregaon Park recorded 40.8°C each.
Several other parts of Pune district also experienced intense heat. Magarpatta recorded 41°C, Daund 40.6°C, Rajgurunagar 40.2°C, Haveli 40.1°C, Ambegaon 39.9°C, NDA 39.8°C, Hadapsar 39.4°C, Chinchwad 38.9°C and Pashan 38.6°C. Malin remained relatively cooler at 36.5°C.
Night temperatures have also stayed high, leading to warm and uncomfortable conditions. Weather officials said there has been no major drop in minimum temperatures.
The IMD has forecast that heatwave conditions are likely to continue for the next three days in parts of Madhya Maharashtra, North Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha. Clear skies are expected to keep temperatures high with little immediate relief.
Authorities have advised people to avoid going out in the afternoon, drink plenty of water and take precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses.
Temperatures across Maharashtra have been steadily rising since early May. While many cities are already recording temperatures above 40°C, some areas in Vidarbha and Marathwada are nearing 45°C, affecting daily life and reducing outdoor activity during daytime hours.
