Pune: Four Booked For Alleged ₹15 Lakh Extortion In Kondhwa
Pune, May 14, 2026: A case of alleged extortion, intimidation, and misuse of civic complaints linked to a construction project in Pune’s Kondhwa area has come to light, following a complaint filed by a local contractor.
According to police information, Kondhwa Police have registered a case against four individuals identified as Shafi Gulzar Khan Pathan, Sameer Shafi Pathan, Sajid Hasan Shaikh, and Kamal Nitin Kshirsagar.
The complaint was filed by Akbar Mehbub Khan (36), a resident of Ramtekdi, Hadapsar, who works as a labour contractor. In his statement, the complainant said that in 2024 he purchased a plot and an old structure in Kondhwa for nearly ₹60 lakh and later began redevelopment work on the property.
As per the complaint, after construction work started, one of the accused allegedly threatened him, claiming that no construction activity could take place in the area without their permission. The accused allegedly demanded money and also threatened to file complaints with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to stop the construction work.
The complainant further alleged that PMC later initiated demolition action at the site following complaints made against the construction.
Police said the accused allegedly demanded ₹15 lakh in cash along with two plots in exchange for allowing the construction work to continue. The complainant claimed that the amount was paid in different phases through cash and bank transactions due to fear and pressure.
The complaint also mentions allegations of abuse and threats during the dispute over the redevelopment project.
Kondhwa Police have registered a case and further investigation is currently underway.
