Pune RTO Orders Special Inspection Drive For School Buses and Vans To Ensure Student Safety
Pune, June 19, 2026: With schools having reopened for the academic year 2026, the Regional Transport Office (RTO), Pune, has ordered a special inspection drive for all school buses and school vans to ensure the safe transportation of students.
According to an order issued by the Pune RTO, all vehicles engaged in transporting schoolchildren must possess valid documents and fitness certificates. To facilitate vehicle owners and operators, the RTO has also decided to continue fitness certificate renewal services on Sundays.

The order, issued by Deputy Regional Transport Officer Swapnil Bhosale directs all Road Safety Squads under the Pune RTO to conduct thorough inspections of school buses and school vans operating within their jurisdiction.
Officials have been instructed to verify vehicle fitness, permits, and other mandatory documents. Any vehicle found violating provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and related rules will face strict action as per the law.
The Road Safety Squads have also been directed to submit detailed reports of the inspections and enforcement actions to the RTO authorities.
The move comes as part of efforts to enhance road safety and ensure that school-going children travel in vehicles that meet all safety and regulatory standards. The RTO has urged school bus operators and vehicle owners to complete pending fitness certificate renewals and ensure compliance with all transport regulations to avoid penalties.
