During the investigation, police analysed technical evidence and CCTV footage, which led them to suspect Akash alias Akya Ashok Bharekar. Upon questioning, Bharekar confessed to committing the crime along with his associates, Santosh Baban Takale and Sahil Arjun Kacharavat, both residents of Handewadi, Pune.
