Ketan Agarwal Murder Case: Father Alleges Fiancée Planned Killing, Says Missing Passport Was Part Of Plot
Pune, June 23, 2026: The death of 26-year-old Ketan Agarwal, initially believed to be a tragic accident during a trek at Lohagad Fort, has taken a dramatic turn after investigators uncovered evidence suggesting it was a premeditated murder. The case has sent shockwaves across Maharashtra, with the victim’s father now publicly accusing Ketan’s fiancée and her alleged lover of plotting the crime.
The incident occurred on June 18 within the jurisdiction of Lonavala Rural Police. Speaking about the case, Ketan’s father, Vishal Agarwal, said he never imagined his son would meet such a tragic end. He credited the police for their swift investigation, which led to the arrest of Ketan’s fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her alleged boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary.
Passport Theft Raises Fresh Questions
According to Vishal Agarwal, Ketan and Siya had gotten engaged in February and were preparing for their wedding. Before the marriage, the couple had planned a trip to Bali along with two other individuals and were scheduled to travel on the 6th of the month.
However, on the day of departure, Ketan’s passport allegedly went missing, preventing him from boarding the flight and forcing him to return home from the airport. Vishal Agarwal now suspects that the incident may have been part of a broader conspiracy leading up to his son’s death.
Alleged Murder Plot at Lohagad Fort
The victim’s father alleged that Siya later invited Ketan to Lohagad Fort under the pretext of celebrating his birthday. Ketan reportedly agreed and travelled to the fort.
According to the allegations, Chetan Chaudhary also reached Lohagad on a motorcycle and was allegedly following the couple. Vishal Agarwal claimed that once at the fort, Ketan was taken to a dangerous cliffside location where he was allegedly attacked and then pushed into a gorge approximately 500 feet deep, resulting in his death.
Police are investigating these allegations as part of the ongoing probe.
‘She Could Have Simply Refused the Marriage’
Expressing grief over the loss of his son, Vishal Agarwal questioned why such an extreme step was allegedly taken.
“If she did not want to marry my son, she could have simply said no. We would have accepted her decision and called off the wedding. Instead, my 26-year-old son lost his life. It is difficult to understand why anyone would choose such a cruel path,” he said.
Police Probe Suggests Relationship Motive
According to Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill, Ketan belonged to a prominent real estate family, while Siya was the daughter of a well-known spice trader. Investigators believe Siya and Chetan became acquainted after operating businesses in close proximity and subsequently developed a relationship.
Police suspect that the pair were unhappy with Siya’s impending marriage and may have conspired to eliminate Ketan. Both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary have been arrested and produced before a court.
The investigation is continuing, with police examining evidence, witness statements and technical data to establish the full sequence of events surrounding Ketan Agarwal’s death.
