Court Issues Non-Bailable Warrant Against Actor Prakash Raj in Alleged Multiple Voter ID Case
Bengaluru, June 23, 2026: A Bengaluru court has issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against actor Prakash Raj in connection with a case alleging that his name appears on electoral rolls in multiple states. The court’s action came after the actor allegedly failed to appear despite repeated summons and earlier warrants.
The case originates from a complaint filed in 2019 by advocate Dileep Kumar at the Halasuru Gate Police Station in Bengaluru. The complainant alleged that Prakash Raj possessed voter identity cards and electoral registrations in multiple states, including Karnataka, Telangana and Tamil Nadu, which would be a violation of election regulations if established.
According to the complaint, no action was taken by the police following its submission. Kumar subsequently approached the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner and the Election Commission of India seeking intervention. After receiving no response, he moved the matter before the court.

As per Election Commission rules, an individual is permitted to be registered as a voter at only one location in the country. The complaint alleges that Prakash Raj’s name appeared on voter lists in more than one state, prompting legal proceedings.
The 48th Metropolitan Magistrate Court took note of the actor’s repeated absence during the proceedings despite the issuance of summons and earlier warrants. Consequently, the court issued a non-bailable warrant and directed that notice be served on the actor.
The matter has been adjourned until July 25, when further proceedings are expected to take place. The issuance of the warrant raises the possibility of legal action, including arrest, if the court’s directives are not complied with.
