Pune, June 24, 2026: What initially appeared to be a tragic trekking accident at Lohagad Fort has now emerged as a sensational murder case, with investigators alleging that Pune-based businessman Ketan Agarwal was deliberately pushed into a gorge by his fiancée and her alleged lover.
The breakthrough in the case reportedly came after Ketan’s sister refused to accept the accident theory and persistently questioned the circumstances surrounding his death. Her suspicions eventually prompted the family to seek a detailed police investigation, leading authorities to uncover evidence suggesting a pre-planned conspiracy.
Ketan Agarwal died on June 18 after falling into a deep gorge during a trek at Lohagad Fort near Lonavala. At the time, his fiancée Siya Goyal informed police that he had accidentally slipped while posing for photographs. Based on the initial information, the Lonavala Rural Police registered an accidental death case.
However, Ketan’s family remained unconvinced. According to sources, Siya visited the Agarwal residence a few days after the funeral to offer condolences. During the interaction, Ketan’s sister reportedly questioned her extensively about the events leading up to the fatal incident. Alleged inconsistencies and evasive responses raised further doubts about the accident narrative.
Investigators later discovered that Ketan and Siya had visited Lohagad Fort together on multiple occasions in recent weeks, including on May 31, June 14 and June 18. Following the family’s request for a fresh probe, police began reviewing CCTV footage, analysing technical evidence and questioning individuals connected to the case.
During the investigation, police uncovered details of an alleged relationship between Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary. Family members have alleged that Siya’s relationship with Chetan was known to some people but was never disclosed before her engagement to Ketan.
A major lead emerged from CCTV footage showing a man wearing a hoodie despite the unusually warm June weather. Investigators found the individual’s movements suspicious and eventually identified him as Chetan Chaudhary. Police believe he was closely monitoring Ketan and Siya’s movements on the day of the incident.
Further scrutiny of Siya’s statements reportedly revealed several contradictions. Police subsequently detained both Siya and Chetan for questioning. Investigators claim that their responses during interrogation raised additional suspicion, prompting a deeper examination of the evidence.
According to the police investigation, the case gradually shifted from an accidental death inquiry to a suspected premeditated murder. Authorities have alleged that Siya and Chetan had been in regular contact for nearly three years and had exchanged thousands of calls and messages in recent months.
Police now allege that Ketan was intentionally pushed into the gorge and that the incident was staged to resemble an accident. Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary were arrested on June 23. Investigators are continuing their probe to determine whether any other individuals were involved in planning or facilitating the alleged crime.
The case has drawn widespread attention due to the shocking nature of the allegations and the crucial role played by the victim’s family in seeking a deeper investigation.
