Pune, June 30, 2026: The investigation into the high-profile murder of Ketan Aggarwal has taken a fresh turn, with police expected to intensify their inquiry into Sahil Goyal, the brother of prime accused Siya Goyal. The development comes after a court extended the police custody of Siya Goyal and her alleged boyfriend, Chetan Choudhary, by five days until July 3 to facilitate further investigation.
The accused were produced before the Vadgaon Maval Court after their previous police custody ended on June 29. Prosecutors argued that the case involved several crucial aspects that required detailed investigation, prompting the court to grant the extension following arguments from both the prosecution and the defence.
Earlier, investigators conducted a crime scene reconstruction at Lohagad Fort, where the alleged murder took place. Using a dummy mannequin, police recreated the sequence of events by pushing it into the gorge to better understand how the incident may have unfolded. Sources indicate that investigators may now revisit Sahil Goyal’s role as part of the ongoing probe.
During questioning, Sahil reportedly told police that he first met Chetan Choudhary through cricket, after which Chetan became acquainted with his sister, Siya. According to investigators, the friendship between Siya and Chetan later developed into a romantic relationship. This has raised questions over whether Sahil was aware of the relationship before the alleged crime.
Police are also examining whether tensions existed within the family before the incident. Investigators are looking into reports that Siya did not wish to marry Ketan Aggarwal, a fact she is said to have disclosed during interrogation. They are also probing whether an argument took place between Siya and Sahil after a planned pre-wedding trip to Bali was cancelled. Officials believe these aspects could provide further insight into the circumstances leading up to the murder. The investigation is ongoing, and police are yet to make any official statement regarding Sahil Goyal’s involvement.
