Ketan Agarwal Murder Case: Police Recreate Crime Scene At Lohagad Fort With Co-Accused Chetan Chaudhary
Pune, July 1: Pune Rural Police on Wednesday took 22-year-old Chetan Chaudhary, a co-accused in the murder of realtor Ketan Agarwal, to Lohagad Fort to recreate the crime scene as part of the ongoing investigation. The reconstruction is expected to help investigators verify the sequence of events and gather additional forensic evidence.
Escorted by a heavy police team, Chetan was seen walking up the fort steps wearing a black striped T-shirt and white trousers. The exercise comes days after co-accused Siya Goyal was taken to the same location on June 28 for a similar reconstruction. During that exercise, investigators used a mannequin to simulate the alleged act of pushing the victim from the fort.
Police officials said the latest reconstruction will also assist forensic experts in conducting a gait analysis. The reconstructed footage will be compared with CCTV recordings from the day of the incident. Investigators believe the analysis could help confirm Chetan’s identity, as he was allegedly seen in CCTV footage wearing a hoodie, sunglasses and a face mask to conceal his appearance.
A court has extended the police custody of both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary until July 3. During recent court proceedings, investigators informed the court that several aspects of the case remain under examination, including the exact location of the crime at the fort, deleted digital evidence, and the recovery of the victim’s missing passport.
According to investigators, Chetan allegedly climbed the fort wearing a hoodie, removed it during the visit, and put it back on while leaving in an attempt to avoid identification before returning to Pune on the same scooter. Police have also recorded statements from Siya’s parents and brother as part of the investigation.
Investigators further claim that the accused had initially attempted to kill Ketan on June 14 and had allegedly conducted a trial run before the murder. The probe has reportedly uncovered deleted messages, online searches, and digital evidence suggesting that the duo explored different methods of killing the victim before allegedly deciding to push him from Lohagad Fort. Police also claim Siya told investigators that she did not want to proceed with her marriage to Ketan and believed his death would delay any future marriage plans, while Chetan allegedly wanted additional time before marrying her. The investigation is ongoing.
