Pimpri, July 2: A high-level meeting chaired by the Devendra Fadnavis will be held in Mumbai on July 3 to review the long-pending Pavana Closed Pipeline Project, a key initiative aimed at ensuring the long-term water security of Pimpri-Chinchwad.

The meeting has been convened by the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, with invitations extended to the city’s Mayor, Members of Parliament, MLAs, and other senior public representatives. Among those expected to attend are Mayor Ravi Landge, MP Shrirang Barne, Maharashtra Assembly Deputy Speaker Anna Bansode, MLAs Mahesh LandgeShankar JagtapUma Khapre, and Amit Gorkhe, along with other civic leaders.

The Pavana Closed Pipeline Project is designed to replace the existing open canal water supply system, which suffers from water leakage, evaporation losses, encroachments, pollution risks, and maintenance challenges. Officials believe the closed pipeline will significantly improve water conservation, enhance supply efficiency, and ensure a safe and uninterrupted drinking water supply for the city’s growing population.

Mayor Ravi Landge said the project transcends political affiliations and is vital for the future of millions of residents. He added that all elected representatives would present a united stand before the state government to expedite the project.

The Mayor also stated that demands submitted by an all-party action committee from Maval Taluka would be presented before the Chief Minister. He said efforts would be made to strike a balanced solution that safeguards Pimpri-Chinchwad’s future water needs while addressing the concerns and legitimate demands of farmers and local residents in the Maval region.

The meeting is expected to focus on pending administrative and technical issues, statutory approvals, funding, inter-departmental coordination, implementation timelines, and key decisions required to accelerate the execution of the project. Civic leaders expressed confidence that the meeting would pave the way for concrete and inclusive decisions to strengthen the city’s long-term water security.
