Pune: PMC, Residents Join Hands To Resolve Civic Issues In Kalyani Nagar
Pune, 5 July 2026: In a collaborative effort to restore the civic beauty, safety and liveability of Kalyani Nagar, the Pune Municipal Commissioner’s Senior Management Team today undertook a comprehensive site assessment across the neighbourhood, following an invitation from The Synergy Kalyani Nagar (TSKN).
The civic tour brought together PMC officials and active residents to jointly assess long-pending civic issues on the ground, discuss practical solutions, and establish clear action points for their resolution along with associated timelines.
Kalyani Nagar residents have consistently contributed towards improving their neighbourhood through initiatives such as waste management, traffic awareness, tree plantation and public space improvement. However, several civic issues requiring coordinated intervention from the municipal administration continue to affect the quality of life in the area.

During the visit, the team reviewed concerns across the following major focus areas:
Roads and Potholes: Damaged roads, potholes, sunken chamber covers, broken concrete stretches and unfinished road restoration work following utility excavations.
Cleanliness and Waste Management: Inadequate street sweeping, accumulation of roadside debris, gaps in dry waste collection, and improved management of garden waste.
Encroachments and Hawker Management: Encroachments along public frontages, temporary structures, and the need to reclaim public amenity spaces.
Water Supply and Drainage: Water pipeline leakages and chronic waterlogging at several junctions during the monsoon.
Footpaths and Pedestrian Safety: Broken footpaths, damaged bollards, missing railings, and faded pedestrian crossings affecting the safety of walkers, senior citizens and children.
Beautification and Sustainability: Opportunities for avenue tree plantation using native species, beautification of metro medians, and strengthening collaborative sustainability initiatives between PMC and residents.
Traffic and Signage: Missing or inadequate traffic signage, particularly “No Parking” signs, requiring systematic planning and installation.

Speaking about the initiative, TSKN representatives said that the objective was not merely to highlight problems but to work in partnership with the municipal administration to identify practical and time-bound solutions.
“We deeply appreciate the Commissioner’s Senior Team for personally visiting Kalyani Nagar. Their willingness to inspect the issues firsthand and engage directly with residents reflects a collaborative approach to governance. We believe that when citizens and the administration work together, neighbourhoods become cleaner, safer and more liveable.”
TSKN also reiterated its commitment to continue supporting PMC through citizen participation, technical inputs and community-driven initiatives that contribute towards a cleaner, greener and more sustainable Pune.
The visit forms part of TSKN’s “Restore Civic Beauty – Kalyani Nagar” initiative, which seeks to strengthen cooperation between residents and civic authorities to improve infrastructure, public spaces and overall quality of life in the neighbourhood.
