Pune: Bibwewadi Boundary Wall Row: Social Activist Stages Semi-Nude Protest At PMC
Pune, July 9, 2026: Amol Pardeshi, City Vice President of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar faction), staged a semi-nude protest at the Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) City Engineer’s office on Tuesday, alleging inaction by civic authorities over an allegedly illegal boundary wall in Bibwewadi.
The protest was held in the office of City Engineer Aniruddha Pawaskar, with Pardeshi claiming that despite pursuing the matter for nearly one-and-a-half years, the PMC had failed to take concrete action against the boundary wall located on Survey No. 638, adjacent to the PMT Colony in Bibwewadi.
According to Pardeshi, the boundary wall has significantly narrowed the road, causing severe traffic congestion and posing a risk to public safety.
He alleged that although the PMC had issued a notice to the property owner, the wall has not been demolished. Referring to a recent fire incident in the area, Pardeshi claimed that a fire engine was unable to reach the affected spot because of the obstruction caused by the wall, putting lives at risk.
Pardeshi also demanded a thorough investigation if any civic officials had accepted financial inducements to avoid taking action against the builder. He said those responsible for endangering public safety should face strict action.
Warning the civic administration of further protests, Pardeshi said the PMC should remove the alleged illegal boundary wall immediately.
“If the wall is not demolished without delay, the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) will launch a more intense public agitation. The Pune Municipal Corporation administration will be solely responsible for the consequences,” he said.
