Pune, July 10, 2026: In a bid to improve access to passport services and reduce appointment waiting time, the Regional Passport Office (RPO), Pune, has announced the launch of a Passport Mobile Van service at its Baner office from July 15 to August 31, 2026.

The initiative, launched under the Ministry of External Affairs, aims to enhance last-mile delivery of passport services and provide applicants with quicker appointment availability. The mobile van facility will operate on all working days, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, between 8:30 am and 6:00 pm at the Regional Passport Office, Passport Bhawan, Survey No. 5/2/2, Baner-Pashan Link Road, Baner, Pune.

Applicants seeking passport services under the Normal scheme must first complete the online application on the Passport India portal and make the required payment. They can then book an appointment by selecting the “Mobile Van” option on the appointment scheduling page.

The RPO has advised applicants to carefully verify the prescribed document checklist before submitting their application. Adult applicants are required to carry original documents along with one self-attested photocopy set, including proof of date of birth, Aadhaar, address proof, and other documents applicable to their case. Separate document requirements have also been issued for minor applicants, including parental consent and supporting identification documents.

The Passport Office has also urged applicants to verify QR codes on digital documents such as Aadhaar and birth certificates through DigiLocker or the mAadhaar app before visiting the centre. Only authentic DigiLocker-issued documents shared during the online application process will be accepted, while printouts and privately laminated “smart ID cards” will not be considered valid.

Applicants have been cautioned against approaching agents or middlemen claiming to offer faster appointments or expedited passport services, as no such intermediaries are authorised by the Government.

The Regional Passport Office further clarified that passport authorities may seek additional documents or conduct necessary verification under the provisions of the Passports Act, 1967, to process applications.

Applicants are advised to report at least 15 minutes before their scheduled appointment time and ensure all required documents are in order to avoid delays in processing.
