Two Killed, Five Injured After SUV Crashes Into Breakdown Truck on Mumbai-Pune Expressway
11 July, 2026: A tragic road accident occurred on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Wednesday morning, around 25 km after the Madap Tunnel near Khalapur, when a speeding SUV rammed into a breakdown truck parked on the service road.
Two men died on the spot in the crash, while five others, including a woman, sustained serious injuries. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
Following the incident, the Highway Police, IRB rescue team and local authorities reached the spot and launched a rescue operation. The injured were pulled out of the mangled vehicle and shifted for medical care. The accident also affected traffic movement on the expressway for some time.
According to preliminary information, the SUV driver is believed to have lost control of the vehicle, causing it to crash into the stationary breakdown truck parked on the service road. Police have begun an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
