Complaint Filed Against Pune Doctor For Allegedly Claiming Close Links With FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe
Pune, July 17, 2026: A doctor from Pune has been booked by the Koregaon Park Police for allegedly misusing the name of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe by claiming close personal ties with the senior bureaucrat and offering to facilitate government-related work through his influence.
The accused has been identified as Dr. Himanshu Ajwani (48), a resident of Pune.
WhatsApp Message Triggered Action
According to police and FDA officials, the case came to light after Dr. Ajwani allegedly circulated a message on a WhatsApp group introducing himself as “FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe’s doctor.”
The message further claimed that he had close relations with the commissioner and could help people get various government-related work completed using those connections.
The message reportedly went viral across multiple WhatsApp groups and social media platforms.
FDA Files Complaint
After the message surfaced, senior officials of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) took serious note of the matter.
Officials stated that the alleged misuse of Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe’s name and designation could damage both his reputation and the credibility of the department.
Following this, the FDA lodged an official complaint with the Koregaon Park Police Station.
Based on the complaint, police registered an FIR against Dr. Ajwani and initiated an investigation into the matter.
Investigation Underway
Police are examining the contents of the viral message and are investigating whether any individuals were misled or induced by the alleged claims.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the specific sections of law invoked in the case. Further investigation is underway.
