Pune, July 18, 2026: The father of murdered Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal has called for a fast-track trial and the strictest possible punishment for the two accused in his son’s murder, saying the family wants justice at the earliest.

Twenty-six-year-old Ketan Agarwal allegedly died after being pushed off a cliff at Lohagad Fort on June 18. Police have arrested his fiancée Siya Goyal (20) and her alleged boyfriend Chetan Chaudhary (22) in connection with the case. Both are currently in judicial custody.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Ketan’s father Vishal Agarwal expressed satisfaction with the progress of the police investigation but urged that the case be heard in a fast-track court.

“My son should get justice as early as possible, and those responsible should receive the maximum punishment. The investigation is moving in the right direction, and the trial should be expedited,” he said.

Responding to media reports claiming that Goyal and Chaudhary were already married, Vishal Agarwal said he had no independent knowledge of the matter and had only learnt about it through news reports.

Describing the emotional toll on the family, he said the loss of his son was followed by another tragedy when Ketan’s grandfather, Devichand Agarwal, died of a cardiac arrest on July 4.

“For any father, carrying his son’s bier is the most painful experience. Losing my father soon after Ketan’s death has made our grief even more unbearable. Our entire family is devastated,” he said.

Vishal Agarwal said Ketan’s marriage to Siya Goyal had been arranged through relatives, who had recommended her family.

“The alliance was proposed by my uncle Narendra Mittal and his wife. They assured us that Siya came from a good family and was well-mannered. Based on their recommendation, we agreed to the marriage,” he said.

When asked whether the relatives who facilitated the match could have had any role in the alleged conspiracy, Vishal Agarwal said, “It may be possible.”

He also revealed that Ketan had occasionally shared concerns about his relationship after the engagement in February, alleging that Siya frequently argued over minor issues and that her mobile phone was often busy. The family, however, had advised him to resolve the differences and not worry.

Recalling the day of the incident, Vishal Agarwal said that it was Siya’s mother who informed his wife over the phone that Ketan had allegedly fallen from a cliff.

Police continue to investigate the murder case, while the two accused remain in judicial custody pending further legal proceedings.
