Pune FDA Suspends Licenses Of 10 Hotels, Restaurants, Bakeries And Dairy Units In Major Food Safety Crackdown
Pune, July 17, 2026: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Pune Division, has suspended the licences and registrations of 10 hotels, restaurants, bakeries and dairy establishments for alleged violations of food safety and hygiene norms during a special inspection drive conducted across Maharashtra.
The action was carried out under a statewide enforcement campaign initiated by Food Safety Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe. As part of the drive, FDA officials conducted inspections on July 16 and 17, during which they found serious hygiene lapses and non-compliance with provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act.
The following establishments have had their licences or registrations suspended with immediate effect:
- Star Catering Services, Mangalwar Peth, Pune
- Ashok Bar and Restaurant, Somwar Peth, Pune
- Golden Majestic Bakery, Yewalewadi, Pune
- Golden Bakery, Kondhwa Khurd, Pune
- Bikange Biryani LLP, Baner, Pune
- Siddharth Agro (Dairy), Pargaon Peth, Ambegaon, Pune district
- Halad Bhavan Canteen, Sangli district
- Sahyadri Restaurant and Dhaba, Mahabaleshwar, Satara district
- Sigdi Restaurant, Mahabaleshwar, Satara district
- Vibgyor High School Canteen, Gadmudshingi, Karveer taluka, Kolhapur district
According to the FDA, the inspections revealed poor sanitation and failure to comply with mandatory food safety regulations, prompting immediate suspension of operations.
The department has directed all food business operators to strictly follow food safety norms, including maintaining hygiene standards, providing free safe drinking water to customers, using food-grade packaging materials, obtaining valid licences before operating, avoiding the reuse of cooking oil, and refraining from displaying misleading information on menus.
The FDA has urged consumers to report complaints related to food quality or hygiene through its toll-free helpline 1800-222-365.
Officials said the inspection campaign will continue, and strict action will be taken against establishments found violating food safety regulations.
