18 July, 2026: In a major boost for air connectivity in Maharashtra’s Konkan region, direct flight services between Navi Mumbai and Sindhudurg’s Chipi Airport are set to begin from August 15. The new route is expected to reduce travel time to around one hour, offering a faster and more convenient travel option for passengers.

According to Maharashtra Minister Nitesh Rane, regional airline Fly91 will be the first to operate the route, while IndiGo is expected to introduce its services at a later stage.

The new flight service is expected to benefit local residents, tourists, businesses and investors by improving access to the Konkan region. It is also likely to witness high demand ahead of the upcoming Ganesh festival, when many people travel to their native places in coastal Maharashtra.

At present, Chipi Airport operates flights to Pune, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. The addition of the Navi Mumbai route will further strengthen the airport’s connectivity and support tourism and economic growth in Sindhudurg and neighbouring districts.

With the launch of direct flights, travellers will have a quicker alternative to long road journeys, making travel between the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and the Konkan coast easier and more efficient.
