Pune: Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Rescue Two Trafficked Women From Katraj Lodge, One Held
Pune, July 17, 2026: The Bharati Vidyapeeth Police have rescued two women from another state who were allegedly being forced into prostitution at a lodge in Katraj and arrested an alleged agent during a raid conducted on the basis of a tip-off.
According to police, information was received that a group of individuals was sending photographs of women to prospective customers through WhatsApp, asking them to choose women for sexual services before arranging meetings at a lodge in Katraj.
Acting on the information, Senior Police Inspector Manasing Patil of Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station formed a raiding team. Police deployed a decoy customer who contacted the alleged agents. The decoy was directed to visit Kinara Lodge in Katraj.
After the decoy signalled the police team, officers raided the lodge and safely rescued two women from another state who were allegedly being exploited for prostitution.
Based on the victims’ statements and the subsequent investigation, police registered a case against three accused identified as Tukaram Manale, Nagesh, and Amar.
Police arrested Tukaram Datta Manale (22), currently residing at Teen Hatti Chowk, Sambhajinagar, Dhankawadi, Pune, and originally from Sarwadi village, Nilanga taluka, Latur district. Efforts are underway to trace the remaining accused.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Milind Mohite and Assistant Commissioner of Police Rahul Aware. The raid was led by Senior Police Inspector Mansing Patil and Police Sub-Inspector Nilesh Mokashi, along with a team of police personnel from Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station.
