Pune-Nashik Highway Project: Land Acquisition To Be Fast-Tracked For ₹7,827-Crore Elevated Corridor

Pimpri-Chinchwad, July 21, 2026: BJP MLA Mahesh Landge has directed officials to expedite the land acquisition process for the proposed Pune-Nashik Highway widening and elevated corridor project, stressing that delays should not hamper one of the region’s most significant infrastructure initiatives.

A review meeting involving officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) was convened at Landge’s initiative to assess the progress of the project and address bottlenecks related to land acquisition.

During the meeting, officials reviewed the current status of the project, discussed challenges in acquiring land, inter-departmental coordination, and pending issues raised by affected citizens. The participating departments were instructed to work in close coordination to ensure that all procedures are completed within the project timeline.

Major Infrastructure Project to Ease Traffic

The Pune-Nashik Highway widening and elevated corridor project is being viewed as a major solution to the increasing traffic congestion in Pimpri-Chinchwad. Once completed, it is expected to improve connectivity, reduce travel time, and support industrial and economic growth across the region.

Speaking at the meeting, Mahesh Landge said the project is critical for the development of Bhosari and the wider Pimpri-Chinchwad region.

“The Pune-Nashik Highway widening and elevated corridor is not just an infrastructure project but a roadmap for the future development of Pimpri-Chinchwad. Land acquisition should not become a hurdle. All procedures must be completed transparently and within the stipulated timeframe while safeguarding the interests of citizens,” he said.

Landge added that the project is being pursued under the guidance of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and is expected to significantly strengthen the region’s transport network while boosting industrial growth, trade, and employment opportunities.

₹7,827-Crore Elevated Corridor Planned

According to project details, an approximately 30-km-long, eight-lane elevated corridor has been proposed on National Highway-60 between Nashik Phata and Khed (Rajgurunagar).

The project, estimated to cost ₹7,827 crore, will be implemented under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model.

In addition to the elevated corridor, the existing highway will be widened from four to six lanes where required. Service roads will be constructed on both sides, along with improved traffic safety infrastructure to facilitate smoother movement of vehicles.

The elevated corridor is expected to provide uninterrupted traffic flow through key industrial and residential hubs, including Bhosari, Moshi, Chakan, and the surrounding industrial belt.

The meeting was attended by PCMC Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryawanshi, Deputy Director of Town Planning Lalit Khobragade, Assistant Director Sandesh Khadtare, Junior Engineer Santosh Jagdale, NHAI Project Director Gautam, Surveyor Prashant Mali, and Special Land Acquisition Officers Usha Vishwasrao and Harshad Ghule.

Officials said efforts are now being intensified to complete land acquisition and other statutory procedures so that work on the ambitious highway project can progress without delay.
