Bengaluru's Barefoot Mallu, Aakash Nambiar, Runs 104 Km in Dubai to Spotlight Climate Change Urgency
Aakash Nambiar aka Barefoot Mallu, as known on Instagram is from Bengaluru and has his video going viral, as he ran 104 km barefoot in Dubai to address climate change.
Aakash Nambiar is an Engineer and MBA graduate, currently working in an IT firm in the Marketing sector. Ever since he started to run in 2014, after meeting Milind Soman, he began to love endurance sports, especially running and cycling.
The run started after the sun rise from Love, Lake to finish at the tallest building in the world Burj
Khalifa covering Palm Jumeirah, Burj Al Arab, Kite Beach, Jumeirah
Beach, La Mer beach, Etihad museum and Museum of future
with a total of 104KMs.
He wanted to address the issue of climate challenge and bring some
awareness to common people, “the best medium for me is through running to tell “WE ARE RUNNING OUT OF TIME” to act.
Also to promote Healthy and sustainable lifestyle I chose to run barefoot the entire distance except last few stretches at night.
Why Dubai? Because the COP28 just got over here and we have maybe 5 years left to limit global
warming to 1.5C and still not many are not aware of it” his instagram post said.
” Anybody can run”, He replied in one of his interview when asked about how he managed running bare foot long distances. “It’s a continuous conflict between body and mind. The mind plays an important role here. Sometimes the body will throw tantrums, but the mind should not give up. It’s all about taking one step at a time, rather than worrying about how much km you’ve got to finish or how much km you have finished so far.”, he added.
