No proposal for a new Law University was sent by any colleges across Maharashtra.

Moreover, these universities will also have to provide facilities for specially-abled individuals to ensure inclusive education under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, of 2016.

Professor Ujwala Chakradeo, Vice-Chancellor of SNDT Women’s University said, “The government has approved most of the locations as per the university’s prospective plan. We are aiming to educate more female students across the state of Maharashtra. We select a location considering the number of girls enrolled in the schools there and we decide on new-age courses as per the requirements of local industries. The new colleges will help to increase the gross enrolment ratio (GER).”

Furthermore, The Maharashtra State Commission for Higher Education and Development has approved a five-year perspective plan for non-agricultural universities in the state at a meeting held last year headed by Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde. The list of approved Letters of Intent (LOI) is the first phase of the same and 1,499 colleges have been identified.
