Accidental Shooting in Pune: Retired Soldier’s 13-Year-Old Son Injured, Charges Filed
Pune: A 13-year-old boy was injured in a shooting incident after accidentally disturbing a revolver kept in a cupboard. The incident took place in the Vanrai Colony area of Dhankawadi. Following this, Sahakarnagar Police have filed charges against the boy’s father, retired soldier Nitin Shirke.
The injured boy, reportedly sustained injuries when the revolver discharged after falling to the ground. Nitin Hanumant Shirke (40), a resident of Shri Ganesh Apartment, Dhankawadi, and the boy’s father, has been charged for negligence leading to the accident. Police constable Hemant Raut filed a report at the Sahakarnagar Police Station.
Shirke, a retired soldier who now works as a security officer, holds a weapon license. He had kept the loaded revolver in a bag inside a cupboard. The boy, who is a seventh-grade student, was at home around 3:15 PM on Tuesday when he opened the cupboard, inadvertently disturbing the bag containing the revolver. The bag fell to the floor, and the revolver discharged, with a bullet piercing through Boy’s leg. His mother and younger brother were also present at home during the incident.
Upon receiving information about the shooting, police arrived at the scene. It was determined that the accident occurred due to Nitin Shirke’s negligence, leading to the filing of charges against him. Assistant Police Inspector Sagar Patil is investigating the case.
