Action against vendors around Wanowrie circle just an eyewash; allege residents

Pune Municipal Corporation recently undertook a strict action against the illegal hawkers around Samvidhan chowk in Wanowrie.

Though the action was well appreciated by the locals but in no time the vendors were back to business, which left the residents frustrated. Residents expressed their anger and called this action as the biggest eyewash which didn’t give any returns.
Kishori Shinde, assistant commissioner, Wanawadi Ramtekdi ward office, PMC stated that it was infact one of the best action against these vendors as PMC could demolish their structures too. “But if they have come back we can take action again,” added Shinde.

Sahil Kedari, president, OBC Cell, Pune City District Congress Committee and also a resident of Wanowrie said, “There have been similar actions even in the past. The rootcause of the problem should be addressed. PMC needs to find the solution to the ongoing problem once for all.”

Local Corporator of Prabhag 25 Prashant Jagtap on the issue of recently conducted action against the fruit and vegetable vendors causing nuisance to the local residents said, “This has been happening everytime after the ward office or main building takes action. But, PMC should ensure that there is some permanent solution to the problem. Cases should be filed against them so that the vendors don’t create any nuisance to the residents.”
Speaking to Pune Pulse, another Corporator of the area Kalinda Punde said, “I shall speak to the officials and ask them to take action for a prolonged period. Fixed points should be maintained by PMC which are chronic spots of encroachments.”
A resident of the area, said, “We face the nuisance caused by vendors everyday. We are even fed up of complaining now.”
