In an unexpected turn of events at Mumbai’s Cinepolis theatre, actress and model Ruchi Gujjar made headlines after she stormed into the special screening of So Long Valley and struck producer-actor Man Singh with a sandal. The shocking confrontation unfolded in front of a stunned audience and was captured on video, which has since gone viral. The dramatic outburst is linked to a financial dispute involving another producer, Karan Singh Chauhan, whom Ruchi has accused of defrauding her of ₹25 lakh under false promises.
According to sources close to the incident, Ruchi arrived at the theatre accompanied by a group of protestors, apparently with the intent to expose and confront those behind the alleged scam. The protestors held placards showing the producers’ faces crossed out in red and even posters mocking them riding donkeys. As tensions flared, Ruchi could be heard yelling at the filmmakers before completely losing her composure and attacking one of them with her chappal, causing chaos in the hall.
The actress alleges that Karan Singh Chauhan approached her in mid-2023, presenting himself as a producer of an upcoming Hindi TV serial supposedly set to air on Sony TV. Claiming to offer her a co-producer position, he reportedly shared official-looking documents to build credibility. Trusting his word, Ruchi says she transferred multiple payments from her company, SR Event and Entertainment, to Chauhan’s K Studios between July 2023 and January 2024.
However, the promised television project never materialized. Ruchi claims Chauhan repeatedly dodged her follow-ups and later she discovered the funds were allegedly redirected to finance So Long Valley—the very film being screened during the altercation. When she confronted Chauhan and demanded a refund after learning the film was set to release on July 27, he allegedly resorted to threats instead of repayment.
In response to her complaint, Mumbai Police has filed an FIR against Karan Singh Chauhan under Sections 318(4), 352, and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), citing charges of cheating and threatening behavior. Ruchi has provided banking records and related documentation as evidence to support her claims, and the police have begun investigating the financial transactions and communications involved.
