Afghan Teen Hides in Plane’s Landing Gear, Lands in Delhi After Two-Hour Flight
In a rare aviation security breach, a 13-year-old Afghan boy managed to reach Delhi by hiding in the landing gear compartment of a KAM Air flight from Kabul. The incident occurred on Sunday morning and raised serious concerns over airport security checks in Afghanistan.
According to official sources, the minor entered the restricted zone at Kabul airport and concealed himself in the rear central landing gear compartment of KAM Air flight RQ-4401. The aircraft departed from Kabul and landed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport around 11:00 am after a two-hour journey.
Upon arrival, airline staff discovered the boy and immediately handed him over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at Terminal 3 for questioning. During the preliminary inquiry, the boy admitted he boarded the aircraft “out of curiosity” without realizing the life-threatening risks of such an act, a news agency reported.
Security personnel conducted a detailed inspection of the aircraft’s landing gear and recovered a small red speaker belonging to the boy. After thorough anti-sabotage checks, the aircraft was cleared for operations.
The teenager was repatriated to Afghanistan on the same flight, which departed from Delhi at around 12:30 pm on Sunday, officials confirmed.
This unprecedented incident has prompted heightened scrutiny of security protocols at Kabul airport, with authorities emphasizing the need for stricter monitoring to prevent such breaches in the future.
