Ajit Pawar Reviews Pune’s Ganeshotsav Readiness, Confirms Purandar Airport Progress, Promises Early Opening of Sinhagad Road Flyover
Pune, July 21, 2025:
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has said that strong steps are being taken to prevent future flood-like situations in Hinjawadi. He has ordered the demolition of buildings built on natural water streams and stressed on improving drainage systems in the area.
Speaking to the media after inspecting the affected locations on Sunday, Pawar said, “A detailed survey is being done to study rainfall, water flow, and blockages in natural water paths. Buildings that are illegally built over streams will be removed.”
He also directed immediate work on key roads including:
- Pashan-Sus-Pirangut
- Laxmi Chowk to Flyover
- Ghotawade-Man-Hinjewadi-Marunji-Kasarsai
- Mhalunge-Ghotawade
In response to the recent tragedy at Kundmala, Pune District Collector Dr. Suhas Diwase ordered safety checks of bridges. The audit revealed that 61 bridges in the district are unsafe. Orders have been issued to demolish these dangerous structures.
Pawar also mentioned that a state-level committee has been formed by PWD Minister Shivrendra Raje Bhosale to review unsafe bridges across Maharashtra. This committee, led by the department secretary, has more authority than district-level teams. All findings will be submitted to this committee.
He added that while some bridges may be repaired using funds from the District Planning Committee, those that cannot be made safe will be demolished.
Commenting on the recent attack on Sahakarnagar Police Station, Pawar said, “Such incidents show that people are losing fear of the law. Anyone attacking police will face strict punishment. Police are being alert to prevent such events.”
When asked about the FIR filed against MLA Rohit Pawar, he said, “I have no information about that matter.”
