Pune: With increasing traffic congestion in Pune city and its suburbs, Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar has directed authorities to expedite infrastructure projects like metro lines, flyovers, and the ring road to ensure smoother traffic flow. He also instructed officials to assess the feasibility of the Karjat-Bhimashankar-Khed-Shirur road, which is crucial for rural connectivity in the district.

The instructions were given during a meeting of the Deputy Chief Minister’s Project Monitoring Unit held at the Mantralaya on Thursday. The meeting was attended by key officials, including Planning Department Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Rajgopal Deora, Finance Department Additional Chief Secretary O.P. Gupta, Public Works Department Additional Chief Secretary Manisha Mhaiskar, Pune PWD Chief Engineer Atul Chavan, and others.

Pawar emphasized that project delays lead to increased costs and financial losses for the state, stressing the need for timely project completion. He specifically mentioned the importance of finishing the city’s ring road on schedule to address traffic issues. Additionally, he reviewed plans for the proposed skywalk at Lonavala, Tiger Point, the Pune-Nashik Greenfield Semi-High-Speed Railway, and the Vastad Lahuji Salve Memorial, providing necessary directions for their progress.
