Amit Shah’s Pune Visit: Schools In Undri Shut Or Switch To Online Mode Amid Traffic Curbs
Pune, July 3, 2025: Several schools in Kondhwa and Undri have announced closures or shifted to virtual classes on July 4 in view of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s high-profile visit to the area. The move comes as a precautionary measure, with expected traffic restrictions and heavy security arrangements likely to affect commutes.
The Bishop’s School in Undri will remain open for all classes. Euro School has declared virtual mode, while Sanskriti School will function for only half a day. Although many schools have not specified the visit as the official reason, they have cited “safety concerns and possible traffic disruptions” due to VVIP movement in the area.
The precautionary measures align with the traffic diversions announced by Pune Traffic Police. To ensure smooth vehicular flow, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav has issued orders for temporary changes across Bund Garden, Kalepadal, Kondhwa, and Bharati Vidyapeeth traffic divisions.
From 12 PM to 5 PM on July 4, heavy vehicles, including dumpers, mixers, trucks, and slow-moving transport, will be restricted on key routes such as Mantarwadi Phata, Khadi Machine Chowk, and Katraj Chowk.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be in Pune to unveil a 13.5-foot bronze statue of Shreemant Thorle Bajirao Peshwa at the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla. He will also inaugurate the Jayraj Sports and Convention Centre in Kondhwa Budruk and visit Balasaheb Deoras Hospital at Khadi machine chowk. His itinerary concludes with the foundation laying of the Poona Health Research Center near Wadachiwadi Road, Undri.
Authorities have appealed to citizens to cooperate with traffic regulations and plan travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
