Amitabh Bachchan Honours 'Helmet Man of India' Raghvendra Kumar on KBC 17
Megastar praises selfless road safety crusader, reflects on audience cheers and their guided enthusiasm
On the latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) season 17, actor Amitabh Bachchan paid tribute to Raghvendra Kumar, popularly known as the ‘Helmet Man of India’, for his relentless campaign promoting road safety.
Raghvendra, who distributes free helmets to two-wheeler riders and raises awareness about traffic rules, was invited as part of the show’s Heroes on the Floor segment. Sharing his thoughts on his blog, Amitabh described him as “a selfless human who contributes without any personal gain, awakening society to the importance of safety.”
The actor revealed that Raghvendra even gifted him two helmets during the show. “He voluntarily gives out helmets to bike riders for protection, in a most awakening gesture of pure unselfish sacrifice for the good of others… He presented me 2, which I shall distribute to the needy,” Amitabh wrote, adding his reminder: “Be safe, be secure, for unintended neglect can bring unwanted grief.”
Raghvendra, in turn, expressed his joy on Instagram, calling it an unforgettable moment to receive an award from his idol. For years, he has tirelessly championed road safety, not just on the streets but also on platforms like Indian Idol, where he spread awareness about accident prevention.
In the same blog post, Amitabh reflected on the electrifying energy of the KBC audience. He acknowledged that their cheers, though often guided by floor managers, still carry deep meaning. “As you run into the floor of the show and confront the waiting audience, their joy and screams of welcome shall ever live after… blessed I am that they cheer, albeit often briefed and tutored by floor managers. Their greatness is what gives strength, as does the greatness of the mass—the janta janardan—the ultimate gift of blessings.”
