Amitabh Bachchan on Fading Fame: 'Aamir, SRK, and Salman Still Draw Crowds'
Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan, a beloved figure across generations, recently surprised fans with a candid remark about his current public presence. An old interview clip resurfacing on Reddit has gone viral, highlighting Bachchan’s thoughts on his fading public visibility.
In a past interview with Anupama Chopra, Bachchan was asked how he deals with setbacks. He responded, “I don’t. You just keep moving on. Hopefully, somebody will come to you and want to make a film with you. I think there are ups and downs in everyone’s lives. It would be impossible to believe that none of us have had failure in our lives and that all of us have had continued success all our lives.”
Reflecting on his past, Bachchan noted, “Maybe in the 70s or 80s, I could walk into a restaurant and have several people looking at me. But if two seconds later, you have an Aamir, a Shah Rukh or a Salman walking in, the place would go crazy. That’s a gauge of your standing. It’s also a gauge of what they are but it’s inadvertently a gauge of where you are standing now.”
Despite his comments on diminishing public attention, Bachchan remains a major figure in the film industry. Currently, he is enjoying significant success with his role in the film *Kalki 2898 AD*. Playing the character of Ashwatthama, Bachchan has received widespread acclaim for his commanding performance. The film also stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan. In addition to his film career, Bachchan has returned as the host for the new season of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ (KBC 16).
