Mahakumbh flag deployed at an altitude of 13,000 feet above Bangkok, drawing international attention to the upcoming Mahakumbh 2025.
Anamika Sharma, a skydiver from Uttar Pradesh, made history by raising the Mahakumbh flag at an altitude of 13,000 feet above Bangkok just days before the commencement of Mahakumbh, the largest religious gathering in the world, which began in Prayagraj on Monday. This event saw over 400 million devotees participating in sacred baths at the Sangam, the meeting point of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers.
Sharma, a resident of Prayagraj, undertook the daring feat on January 8, and a video of the event has gone viral, garnering her widespread acclaim online. The footage captures Sharma proudly displaying the Mahakumbh flag before ascending into the sky. In the video, she leaps from a plane and unfurls the flag.
The video has quickly gone viral and was captioned, “Inviting people all over the globe for world’s largest human gathering, Mahakumbh 2025.”
“I hope you serve as a motivation to women in Prayagraj,” said one user. “This is pure devotion and daring combined. What a way to promote Mahakumbh,” was another comment. “Incredible! What an amazing way to showcase our rich heritage,” added another user. Another person added, “Skydiving alone is an adventure, but doing it with a flag and such composure is just exceptional.”
The Maha Kumbh, which commenced on Monday, has drawn more than 400 million devotees to Prayagraj, where they are participating in holy baths at the Sangam, the meeting point of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers.
Over the next six weeks, an astonishing 400 million individuals are anticipated to participate in the Maha Kumbh Mela, also known as the festival of the Sacred Pitcher, along the riverbanks of Prayagraj.
This festival, which occurs every 12 years, is designated with the prefix “Maha,” meaning great, as it represents the most significant assembly of the Kumbh Mela, which takes place every three years in one of four designated cities.
