New Delhi – Just hours after India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire through their Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs), Pakistan violated the understanding by initiating unprovoked firing and drone activity along the border in Jammu and Kashmir. The breach occurred shortly after both sides agreed at 5:00 PM IST to halt all military operations across land, air, and sea.

In response, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi has granted full authority to Indian forces to respond decisively to any further provocations from Pakistan. The move comes amid rising cross-border tensions under Operation Sindoor Live, following a spate of violations by Pakistan.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri condemned the breach, emphasizing that Indian Armed Forces are taking necessary and firm actions along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB). “Pakistan must act responsibly and de-escalate the situation,” he stated, reaffirming India’s commitment to defending its sovereignty.

Tragically, the ceasefire violation claimed the life of BSF Sub Inspector Md Imteyaz, who was killed during cross-border firing in the R S Pura sector. A solemn wreath-laying ceremony was held by the Border Security Force (BSF) in his honor.

In a separate security incident, a sentry at Nagrota Military Station engaged a suspect after observing suspicious movement. The sentry sustained minor injuries during a brief exchange of fire. A thorough search operation is underway in the area.

On the diplomatic front, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval held talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, focusing on counter-terrorism efforts following the recent Pahalgam terror attack. While Doval reiterated India’s strong counter-terror stance, he clarified that war is not India’s objective. Wang Yi condemned the attack and called for peace and dialogue between India and Pakistan.

As ceasefire violations continue, India remains on high alert along its borders, with security forces maintaining full readiness to counter any aggression.
