A one-of-a-kind art exhibition called Art Mandai 2024 will be held on this Republic Day i.e. January 26, 2024, at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Mandai, Pune.
Speaking to Pune Pulse, Gauri Gandhi, a committee member, Art Mandai said, “We began the first exhibition in 2016. The main aim of this was to connect with the public as, when art pieces are exhibited in a gallery, very few people tend to come. Art is for everybody. Hence, we thought that the exhibition should be held in open spaces. So, we found that Mandai is the most central open space in Pune. Hence, we started our exhibition there. Then, we thought, how could we connect with the people? So, we brought down the prices of our art pieces so that everyone could buy them. We are happy to see that Art Mandai has been doing very well over the years where a lot of people get connected, enjoy art & buy the art pieces as well.”
As per further information, the Art Mandai has been bringing authentic and affordable art beyond the confines of a gallery, and selling it alongside vegetable and fruit vendors since 2016. The aim of Art Mandai is to dissolve hierarchies and make art more inclusive and accessible. All works will be priced at Rs 2,500 or under. Part of the proceeds from sales are donated to a social cause.
The theme for Art Mandai 2024 is “Metamorphosis: Exploring Transformation.” It encourages a dialogue on the continuous evolution of the world and creates curiosity for the ever-changing nature of existence. The works invite viewers and buyers to contemplate the multifaceted nature of transformation, be it form, structure, thought, action or identity.
Hence, the Art Mandai team encourages everyone to be a part of this wonderful art exhibition on January 26, 2024, from 9 am to 1 pm at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Mandai, Pune.
