Astrologer Arrested for Molesting 25-Year-Old Law Student in Pune
Charged under IPC and Maharashtra’s Anti-Black Magic Act for alleged assault during office visit
Pune: A self-styled astrologer has been arrested for allegedly molesting a 25-year-old law student at his office in Pune. According to the police, the incident took place on Saturday when the woman visited the astrologer for consultation.
During the meeting, the accused allegedly attempted to hug and kiss the woman without her consent. Disturbed by the incident, the woman approached the police and filed a complaint detailing the assault.
Acting swiftly, the police booked the astrologer under sections related to molestation in the Indian Penal Code. Additionally, he has been charged under relevant provisions of the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act. The Act is specifically aimed at curbing exploitative practices carried out in the name of superstition, black magic, or spiritual rituals.
An official from the police department confirmed, “We have arrested the accused and initiated further investigation. The complaint has been taken seriously, especially due to the misuse of spiritual influence and position.”
The case has sparked concern in the city over the unchecked operations of self-proclaimed spiritual advisors, especially those targeting vulnerable individuals under the guise of astrology or divine guidance. The investigation is ongoing.
