The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has decided to establish a food plaza and petrol pump facility at Jasai (Navi Mumbai end), located at the end of the Atal Setu.

Passengers traveling across the country’s largest sea bridge, the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri–Nhava Sheva Sea Bridge, will soon have access to fuel and food services. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has announced plans to set up a food plaza and petrol pump facility at Jasai, the bridge’s endpoint.

The project is currently underway, and the facility is expected to be operational in the coming months. As per information, the process was initiated in October 2024 and MMRDA officials expect another three to six months for the conveniences to come up on both the carriageways of the 21.8 km long bridge.

The MMRDA has built a 21.80-km-long sea bridge to connect Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, reducing travel time to just 12 minutes. The bridge began operating in January 2024, with an average of 22,500 vehicles using it daily. While the sea bridge has significantly sped up travel, there has been no catering or fuel facility available for drivers and passengers during their journey. Though travelers have to keep this in mind, MMRDA decided to give this facility at Atal Setu.

The Atal Setu is in its full swing now giving travellers a pleasant traveling experience. However, the fuel station and refreshment center were absent on the bridge. Keeping this in mind, MMRDA decided to give this facility also. Now it is not only the speed but extra essential services too that travelers can avail benefits of at Atal Setu.

An MMRDA official stated, “MMRDA has now decided to develop food plazas and petrol pumps along the Atal Setu, according to MMRDA officials. A food plaza and petrol pump will be constructed at Jasai, located on the outskirts of Navi Mumbai at the Atal Setu. Both facilities will be developed in partnership with a private company.” The process has been underway since October 2024, with ongoing discussions with the private company. There will be a food plaza and petrol pump on both sides of the Atal Setu at Jasai.

With this Atul Setu will be fully equipped for better services.
