Ayodhya Shri Ram Mandir Chief Priest Acharya Satyendra Das Passes Away At 85
Ayodhya: Acharya Satyendra Das, the chief priest of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, passed away at the age of 85 on Wednesday. He breathed his last at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI), Lucknow.
Acharya Satyendra Das was initially admitted to a private hospital on February 3 after suffering a stroke. However, he was later shifted to SGPGI, Lucknow, for advanced treatment. On February 11, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the hospital to check on his health condition. The priest had been battling diabetes and high blood pressure for some time.
Acharya Satyendra Das had been serving as a priest at the Ram Mandir since before the Babri Masjid demolition on December 6, 1992. Nine months ago, when the construction of the Ram Mandir was completed, he once again resumed his duties as the chief priest.
A member of the Nirvani Akhada, Satyendra Das began his spiritual journey at the age of 20 and dedicated his life to religious service.
