Bank Holiday Today: Are Banks Open or Closed on September 8 for Eid-e-Milad?
Banks in Mumbai will remain closed today, Monday, September 8, 2025, on account of Eid-e-Milad, as per the Reserve Bank of India’s holiday calendar. The RBI had earlier notified on September 4 that the Eid-e-Milad holiday in Mumbai was shifted from September 5 to September 8.
Banks across the rest of the country will remain open as usual.
When are banks usually closed?
Banks in India remain closed on national holidays, state-specific festivals, the second and fourth Saturdays, and on all Sundays.
Online Banking Services
Even on holidays, customers can access internet and mobile banking to carry out transactions such as NEFT, RTGS, UPI, and card services. Services like demand drafts, chequebook requests, standing instructions, and account maintenance can also be managed digitally.
