Bank Holidays This Week (Aug 11–17): From Independence Day to Janmashtami, Know the Full List
Banks across India will see multiple holidays next week, from August 11 to 17, 2025, with closures for national events, regional festivals, and regular weekends.
According to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) official schedule, the week will include Independence Day, Janmashtami, Krishna Jayanthi, and Patriot’s Day, alongside the routine second Saturday and Sunday holidays.
The week begins with Patriot’s Day on August 13, when banks in Imphal, Manipur, will remain shut.
On August 15, banks across India will close for Independence Day, with additional closures in some states for Parsi New Year (Shahenshahi) and Janmashtami.
The following day, August 16, banks in states such as Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and several others will remain shut for Janmashtami (Shravan Vad-8) and Krishna Jayanthi.
The week ends with a Sunday closure on August 17.
While these dates are part of the RBI’s official list under the Negotiable Instruments Act, holiday observance can vary by state. Customers are advised to check with their local bank branch for region-specific schedules.
Essential banking services like online banking, mobile banking, UPI payments, and ATMs will remain operational during these holidays, except in rare cases of technical outages.
