Pune : Residents of Bavdhan have organized the Ramnadi River walk till October 27 to recognize drainage spots, seepage spots & more.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Adv Krunal Gharre, organizer of the River Walk & AAP party representative in Pune said, “The situation of Ramnadi currently is very unfortunate. We had filed a case in NGT. After this, the PMC had put a pipeline. The river started to flow smoothly & the base of the river was also seen from the bridge. However, I wonder if the river’s condition is improving, as we recently found out that from the Bavdhan-Bhugaon boundary, a lot of contaminated water is being released into the river. We asked the PCB about this however they didn’t answer us. The volume of drainage water released was very high.”

Gharre further added, “MPCB was informed about this. When they came to the river, they told us that they didn’t have enough resources to check this. Hence, on October 25, we inspected the river. After 5 to 10 minutes, we found out that the river was completely dry with no ounce of water. Thus, the water currently present in the river is 100% sewage water. On October 26, we walked from Songbirds to the Bhugaon Gram Panchayat, just near Manas Lake.”

On October 27, (Friday) at 7 am, the walk will begin at Manas Lake and head towards Bhukum where waste is unloaded by a water channel line from Bhukum town into Manas Lake whose water is used by Bhugaon residents.

The Bavdhan Citizens’ Forum (BCF) people saw that the cleaning work was conceivable. They recommended the use of the administration of a bug machine for cleaning and stream digging movement at the two primary spots in Bavdhan where the drainage is at its greatest; likewise setting up a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) which will bring about 100% contamination-free water. The entire data and GPS areas of the leakage spots will be submitted to MPCB.
