The incident occurred when a container truck, traveling in the opposite direction, jumped the divider, collided with another truck, and overturned onto a Volvo car carrying the family.

Victims Identified
The deceased were identified as: Chandra Yagapagola (businessman), Vijayalakshmi (36), Gourabai (42), John (16), Deeksha (12), Arya (6)
The family, residents of Bengaluru’s HSR Layout, was traveling to their hometown near the Vijayapura-Maharashtra border to celebrate Christmas. The family hailed from Vijayapura purchased the SUV in October.

The impact of the accident completely crushed the car, killing all occupants instantly. Emergency services arrived swiftly to remove the victims from the wreckage. The container truck driver sustained critical injuries and is receiving treatment.
Traffic Disruption
The accident caused a major traffic disruption, halting vehicles for about 10 kilometers on NH-4. However, Bengaluru Rural Superintendent of Police confirmed that traffic was cleared promptly, and normal flow resumed.
