Residents of the upscale Prestige Falcon City on Kanakapura Road in Bengaluru are facing an unexpected challenge as the city grapples with a worsening water crisis. The luxurious gated community, known for its lavish amenities, is now dealing with the impact of water scarcity, pushing residents to find alternative solutions.
In a recent Reddit post, a user from Prestige Falcon City, identified as “Familiar-Art-8675,” highlighted the dire situation. According to the user, the community has not received regular and round-the-clock water supply for over a month. This has led to various coping mechanisms within society, such as using disposable plates and cutlery to minimize water usage.
Disturbingly, the water crisis has compelled many residents to trek to the nearby Forum Mall for their basic bathroom needs. Some tenants have reportedly abandoned their apartments, while others have sought temporary housing options. Those unable to relocate have resorted to using disposable plates for meals and ordering takeout to reduce water consumption associated with cooking and washing utensils.
The waste disposal challenge compounds the residents’ woes, with the Reddit user lamenting the unpleasant odour of unflushed human excreta in toilet bowls. The situation has driven some residents to travel to their gyms equipped with towels and a change of clothes to avail themselves of bathing facilities.
Quoting the Reddit user, “It’s not uncommon to see a line of residents going to the nearby Forum Mall to do their business,” emphasizing the extreme measures residents are taking due to the severe water shortage in the Prestige Falcon City community.
