Beware! Pet owners and couples visiting this 'Lake' to face stern action
Rankala Lake is one of the glories of Kolhapur. Rankala Lake and its surrounding area have special importance due to many historical, natural and spiritual aspects associated with it.
Along with this, problems such as water pollution in Rankala Lake, lack of facilities, and untimely maintenance and repairs also come up from time to time. The nearby park and sidewalks are also not maintained properly. Now, efforts are going to be made to stop these by the Rankala Conservation and Protection Committee.
Rankala Conservation and Protection Committee works towards conservation and public awareness about Rankala. Therefore, the Rankala lovers who are on this committee will now try to ensure that the citizens do not behave inappropriately near the Rankala park and footpath. Often some citizens bring their pet dogs for a walk in Rankala. At the same time, some people bring bicycles to Rankala Park and footpaths. Some of them have even been spotted in the Rankala Park area on motorbikes. Therefore, Vikas Jadhav of the Rankala Conservation and Protection Committee has said that it is necessary to stop such abuses.
“A special campaign is being conducted by the Rankala Conservation and Protection Committee for people who bring their dogs to Rankala for walks and those who bring bicycles or vehicles to the Rankala Udyan area. Through this campaign, public awareness is being spread on the Rankala park and footpaths through boards,” said Dr Devendra Raskar.
Many young individuals are often found engaged in non-productive activities. Alongside this, a significant number of students, whether from school or college, are noticed wandering away from their academic responsibilities. It is crucial to address and curb these trends.
Consequently, parents and teachers will need to be informed when students are found engaged in non-constructive activities during school or college hours to take appropriate measures. Dhannaji Lingam has emphasized that strict disciplinary action should also be taken against those who engage in non-productive activities, extending even to couples in romantic relationships.
Sometimes, debates arise over individuals who engage in non-compliance at public places like Rankala Udyan or footpaths. Even though bringing vehicles or capturing wildlife in municipal gardens is prohibited, rules are sometimes bent.
Therefore, there is a demand for strict action against such offenders by the municipal corporation. This request has reached the Rankala Conservation and Protection Committee, emphasizing the need for stringent measures to ensure the preservation and protection of Rankala Lake.
