Blood-Stained Wood In Cemetery Leads Pune Rural Police To Solve Elderly Man’s Murder In Indapur
Pune, November 26, 2024: In a chilling incident, bloodstains on a piece of wood near a cremation site in Tawshi village, Indapur, helped police unravel the murder of a 74-year-old man. Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the case.
The deceased, identified as Haribhau Dhuraji Jagtap from Gangakhed, Parbhani, was killed on November 15. The suspects, Dadasaheb Maruti Harihar (30) and his accomplice Vishal Sadashiv Khilare (23), both from Satara district, were apprehended following a detailed investigation.
Police were alerted to the crime on November 16 when local authorities reported a burning body at the cremation ground, along with bloodstained wood nearby. Upon reaching the scene, officers found partially burned bones and evidence of fresh blood, raising suspicions of foul play.
During the investigation, it was discovered that the wood used at the site was sourced from a lumberyard in Phaltan. Tracing this lead, police linked the suspects to the crime. They confessed to murdering Jagtap over suspicions that he harbored inappropriate intentions toward a female relative of one of the accused. To cover up the crime, they burned his body at the cremation ground.
The investigation, led by Superintendent of Police, Pune Rural Pankaj Deshmukh and other senior officials.
