In a devastating update from the Ahmedabad-London flight crash, Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey confirmed the tragic death of his cousin Clive Kunder, who was serving as the first officer on board the ill-fated Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner (Flight AI171).
Sharing his grief on Instagram, Massey wrote: “My heart is broken for the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in the unimaginable tragic accident that happened in Ahmedabad today.” Expressing personal sorrow, he added, “It is even more sad to know that my uncle Clifford Kunder lost his son Clive Kunder, who was the first officer working on that ill-fated flight. May God give strength to you and your family and all those affected.”
Clive Kunder, a promising young pilot with 1,100 hours of flying experience, was assisting Captain Sumit in the cockpit during the flight. The aircraft tragically crashed in a residential area just five minutes after takeoff from Ahmedabad airport, en route to London.
The crash resulted in the loss of 241 lives out of the 242 people on board, including passengers and crew. Only one person survived the crash. Among the deceased was former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, whose death sent shockwaves through the political landscape.
This tragic incident has left the nation mourning not just for the public figures aboard, but for the countless families who lost loved ones in the blink of an eye. Vikrant Massey’s emotional note reflects the deep personal pain and collective grief that now surrounds one of India’s deadliest air disasters in recent memory.
