Broken Knife Found in Pizza: Pune Customer’s Shocking Discovery in Online Order
Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune: A shocking incident has raised serious concerns about food safety and hygiene practices at one of the country’s leading pizza chains. A customer in Bhosari’s Indrayani Nagar area discovered a sharp piece of a broken knife inside a pizza ordered from Domino’s Pizza.
Incident Details
Arun Kapse, a resident of Indrayani Nagar, ordered a ₹596 pizza for his family from the Jai Ganesh Empire Chowk Domino’s outlet. While enjoying the meal, Kapse felt something unusual stuck in his teeth. Upon closer inspection, he was horrified to find a piece of a broken pizza-cutting knife embedded in the pizza.
Customer’s Shock and Response
Deeply alarmed, Kapse immediately reported the issue to the outlet’s manager. Initially, the response from the manager was dismissive and rude. However, after Kapse insisted on further action, the manager visited his home to inspect the complaint.
On seeing the broken knife fragment, the manager expressed regret and refunded the cost of the pizza. Despite the refund, Kapse remained unsatisfied, as he felt the issue exposed serious negligence in food safety practices.
Legal Action
Determined to prevent similar incidents in the future, Arun Kapse plans to file a formal complaint with the Pune District Food and Drug Administration (FDA). He expressed concern about the potential risks to consumer health posed by such negligence and stressed the need for stricter quality control measures.
Domino’s Pizza’s Response
While Domino’s Pizza issued an apology and a refund, the incident has cast a shadow over the brand’s reputation. Questions about the chain’s quality control and hygiene standards have been raised, leading to growing public concern.
This incident is expected to spark discussions about the enforcement of food safety regulations across India. Consumers are urging authorities to take stringent action to ensure such lapses do not occur again.
